Shayna makes me smile!

Everyday Shayna says or does something that makes us laugh. I never write these things down and I always think I will remember them...I never do. So I am writing things down now so I won't forget later. Here are some things that she says/does that makes me smile.
Shayna always says in fact. Like, In fact, I was just going to say that or in fact, I want to do that by myself. She always uses the word right and it's always so funny when she says it.
The other day I bought myself some new leave in hair conditioner. When I opened it to use it Shayna was there with me. I said to Shay, "ooh, that doesn't smell very good". When she smelled it she LOVED the smell. She asked me if she could use some. While she was putting it in her hair she said "in fact, this smell is bringing back a memory", I said "oh yeah whats that" she said " you know when your outside and you have to use those green potty's, it smells like that. WHAT? You mean my hair smells like an outhouse. I'm not sure why but she loves the smell of that hair conditioner.
Shay likes to wake up in the mornings and go into the living room to turn on her cartoons to watch. She likes to watch the ones that we have recorded on the TV. Lately we have noticed that all of the movies that Ty and I record have been watched for about 10 or 15 seconds. Come to find out it is Shayna that turns on our movies looking for her cartoons. Since she can't read she just watches everything until she finds what she is looking for.
These are just a few things that I can think of off the top of my head. I'm sure there will be more to come.

Everybody needs a Shane!

I just want to say thank you Shane, Thank you for always providing entertainment. There is never a dull moment with you. Thank you for making our parent's FINALLY realize I am the easy child, and Thank you for being you, you make me laugh and I Thank you for that too!

You see, I have a brother named Shane, and for as long as I can remember he has been the cause of family drama, not bad drama, more like funny, I can't believe he really did that drama. Like the time he rode the bus to work and fell asleep so he missed his stop and ended up in some other city and had no idea where he was. Or the time he was racing me, we were supposed to run to the peach tree, touch it, and run back to the start line. He grabbed the tree and didn't let go. He drug the tree back to the start line with him. We have not had a peach tree since, that was around 25 or so years ago. There was also the time he ordered thousands of dollars worth of jewelery from someone over the phone, that was a fun charge my parents had to clear up....Then there's today.....Today we found out that Shane has been doing some more ordering only this time it was for, let's just say, very racy lady magazines. He ordered a year subscription, yep, my Dad's having fun clearing that one up.

See why Shane makes me laugh, he's a keeper.

Love ya Shane.

Not much Fun.

Don't you just hate it when you have all kinds of fun things planned, and you think your kids are really going to enjoy themselves and then BAM! Out of nowhere those fun plans turn into a nightmare. I hate that, really, really hate that......

Friday while Britton was at school I got a phone call from my Mother in law asking us if we wanted to go with them to meet my Sister in law and her kids at the South Town Expo center to look at all the Christmas boutiques and see Santa Claus. "My kids would love that" I told her "yes we would love to go". "OK" she said, we will meet you at your house and we can drive together.

I told Shayna what we were going to do and at first she was very reluctant. I knew what she was thinking and after I told her she didn't have to sit on Santa's lap she was excited to go.

Shayna and I went to pick Britton up from school and told him what we had planned and he was very excited. Mostly to see his cousins and Grandma and Grandpa Carver. When we got home I made the kids eat a snack and when Grandma and Grandpa Carver showed up we left. It was 3:00. There was an accident on the freeway so it took us an hour to get there. "O'well" I said, "we are going to have lots of fun".

HA!

The second we walk through the door Britton tells me his throat hurts. I could tell he didn't feel good at all. He had no energy and he was pale. Tyler's Mom was so excited to go so I didn't feel like I could tell her we needed to leave. So I thought, we can stick it out, we won't be here to long....Boy was I wrong, Ty's Mom is a shopper and she was loving every bit of it. I had to carry Britton the WHOLE time. Six year olds are not light when you have to hold them for hours. We took all of the kids over to visit with Santa and neither one of my kids wanted anything to do with it, so we sat on a little train and waited for everyone else to get their pictures taken. I told Britton and Shay we could go get them a drink of sprite and something to snack on. After that Britton started to feel a little better he started to play a little with his cousins and we were able to make it the rest of the night walking from booth to booth and watching some dance company perform the Nutcracker....

We finally made it home a little after 8:00. I was exhausted! After Grandma and Grandpa Carver and the cousins left our house it was 10:00. I finally got the kids in bed and we all crashed.

The next morning.... Britton came in to our room crying, I knew it was going to be a rough day. I got up to make the kids breakfast and Britton wouldn't eat. I felt his head and he had a fever and he was complaining about his throat so I gave him some Ibuprofen and let him lay on the couch watching cartoons. After Tyler left for work Britton started complaining more and more so I looked at his throat and oh my goodness...Gasp! Shudder! Sigh! My heart sank, I felt so bad for this little boy, he was so sick. His throat was so swollen and his uvula (the little thing that hangs in the back of the throat) was SO swollen it was sticking to the side of one of his tonsils. Of course the Doctor is not in on Saturdays so we went to Kids Care.....

He has strep. He will be on antibiotics for the next ten days.

The rest of the weekend was spent in the house....doing nothing.

Poor Shayna, she was so bored. I hope she doesn't get it too.

Lowe's Build and Grow

A friend of mine told me about Lowe's build and grow program. The kids get to go and build stuff and it's FREE! Today we built semi trucks. The kids had so much fun and I actually did too. I ran into a childhood friend of mine that I hadn't seen in a hundred years and I got to visit with Amy and her cute family. Thanks Amy for the info....Hope to see you at future projects.

WAHOO!!

Our old car sold!!! It was on KSL for exactly 16 hours. It's a good feeling to know that Christmas is paid for this year....YIPEE!

New Car!!

2009 Hyundai Sonata
We didn't have much of a choice. Our old car was breaking down. Tyler was driving to work one day and the car started over heating. We took it in to have the fluids checked and after we got everything topped off we thought we would be ok but then Ty was driving to work again and it overheated bad. It started smoking and Ty had to drive with the heater full blast. The Air conditioner has also gone out on it and the seat warmer went out and the breaks are bad. It's a really nice car and I hate to see it go but I think it's at the point where it's going to nickle and dime us to death.....But I do love a new car!! It only had 6 miles on it when we bought it. It's dark cherry red with tan interior. Hopefully we can sell our old car and use that money for Christmas, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Happy Halloween!!

This is the first year we have been able to walk around and not freeze to death. It was so warm I loved it. It did start to rain on us but I will take that over freezing.

Shayna was a Witch and Britton was Optimus Prime.

Britton's teacher is out on maternity leave. His substitute teacher invited everyone in the class to trick-or-treat at her house. Of course we had to go.

Showing off all of their candy.

Thanks Mom and Dad for coming over and spending the evening with us. Thanks Shane for handing out the candy!!!

Saturday we went over to my parents house to have dinner and watch some football game (I don't know who played). I just had to add these pictures because they were so proud of themselves for making the pile all by themselves.
