When grocery shopping with Shane there is never a dull moment!!

Shane and I do our grocery shopping together every Friday! I am always in a huge hurry because I have to be to certain places at certain times. Here is a typical Friday for me:

7:00 am - Wake up and start getting myself ready
7:30 am - Wake kids up and make breakfast
7:45 am - Finish getting myself ready
8:00 am - Get kids dressed, do hair, brush teeth
8:30 am - Grab backpacks and head out the door
8:45 am - Every Friday I volunteer in Shayna's classroom
10:00 am - Done in Shay's class and go pick up Shane
10:15 am - at bank depositing Shane's paycheck (only every other Friday)
10:30 am - Stop by my house and get grocery list and finish getting any coupons that Shane or I will need
10:50 am - Pick Shayna up from school (Friday's are short days)
11:00 am - At grocery store
12:15 pm - leave grocery store (this is if we are lucky, and we are walking as fast as I can possibly get Shane and Shayna to move, I told you it wasn't a fast trip), run and pick up lunch for Shane
12:30 - Take Shane home and help him put away grocery's then run like mad to get home
12:40 - back at home, Put away all perishable groceries, make Shayna lunch, grab a snack for Britton and get Shay changed into her ballet clothes
1:00 - leave to go get Britton from school
1:20 - pick up Britton from school
1:30 - Drive to my Dad's office to drop Britton off (he won't go to ballet with us)
2:00 - Ballet lessons start
Whew! I have an hour to myself so I usually read or crochet
3:00 - Ballet is over so we go pick up Britton
3:30 - Back at home, I have an hour before I have to start dinner so I put away the rest of the groceries. I never have time to do it all before we have to leave to get Britton from school then I go through the kids backpacks, and pick up the house a bit and visit with the kids about their day.
4:30 - Start dinner so it can be ready when Tyler gets home from work
-we eat anywhere between 5:00 and 5:30
6:00ish - clean up dinner
7:00ish - do P90X for an hour with Tyler (if we can talk each other into it) while the kids play on the Wii
The rest of the evening I am as lazy as I can possibly be.....I am exhausted.

I only mention the above so you can see what kind of a time crunch I am on. Shopping with Shane is never fast and can be quite frustrating especially if either of us is in a bad mood but 95% of the time we do pretty good. He's pretty tired of hearing me say come on Shane we need to hurry, or pick up the pace, lets get a move on or the famous line in our family is Shane, your slower then cold tar.

I am writing all of this to lead me into my story. Last Friday when I picked Shane up he handed me his grocery list, like he always does, and like I always do I try to decipher what it says. He writes it all by himself and although he does pretty good sometimes I come across something like this: estesly2%. This was written on his list last Friday. Here is how our conversation went:

Me: ok, I see you need milk, bread, icecream, toilet paper and water.....What does this say?
Shane: Uummm?
Me: What else do you need besides milk, bread, icecream, toilet paper and water.
Shane: OH YAH, I need squeeze cheese, yah, I lub dat stuff!
Me: You do? Are you sure? I don't think I have ever seen you eat that stuff.
Shane: Oh! I lub it
Me: Really? Well ok do you have crackers to put it on?
Shane: No, not for crackers.
Me: Oh kaaay, I don't think I know what your talking about, could you explain it to me?
Shane: You know it squeaks
Shayna: Pipes up from the back seat, Uncle Shane do you mean squeaky cheese
Shane: Yah! Yah! That's it, that's the one. Ohhhh, I lub it. Thanks Shay
Me: Okay, so you want the cheese like we buy when we go to the condo.
Shane: Getting very frustrated. No! I DON'T want cheese!
Me: How about this, when we get to the store you can show me what you want.
Now we are at the store and this is how the conversation goes:
Me: Have you figured out what you want
Shane: I know what I want, you can't figure it out
Me: (laughing) yep, I guess your right. How about when you see it, you just grab it
Shane: (rolling his eyes) FINALLY!
Me: What does that mean?
Shane: Nuffing
We get to the cheese isle and Shane grabs some shredded cheese
Me: Shane is that what you were talking about, you wanted shredded cheese?
Shane: No, this is for my nachos
Me: So we still have to find squeeze cheese
Shane: yep
Now we have been up and down every isle and both of us are done shopping, EXCEPT, we still don't have SQUEEZE CHEESE!!!!
Me: Shane we are running out of time and I can not figure out what you want. Can we try to figure it out and we can get it next time.
Shane: (rolls his eyes, looks at the floor and puts his head down defeated) sure, I guess
Shayna: Mom, I want yogurt can we get me some
Me: Sure, Shane lets walk over and get some yogurt
Shane: That's what I have been trying to tell you, I want yogurt
Me: Seriously, that's it, you want yogurt, not cheese....are you being serious right now!
Shane: uh huh
Me: I start grabbing cups of yogurt and putting it in his cart
Shane: No! That is not what I want!
Me: Shane, you have no idea how patient I am trying to be right now. You said you wanted yogurt.
Shane: I do, just not that kind
Me: What kind do you want, you pick it out
Shane: I can't find it. I want the kind you squeeze.
Me: OH MY GOSH!!! I can not believe it! I think I just figured it out. Do you want GoGurt?
Shane: YES! WAHOO! That's it, yah that's the one. I want it.
Me: Ok we figured it out, can we go now.
Shane: Yes, Thanks Brittney (and gives me a big hug) Your my favorite sister!

Even though Shane can be extremely frustrating and difficult at times, and Friday's completely ware me out, I wouldn't change it for anything! You wanna know why?

Because, Shane, you are my favorite brother!!

Outdoor Soccer!

Britton had his first outdoor game last Thursday! The team lost which is not a shocker but Britton made the only goal!!

This is when Britton got the goal. I wish I had a better picture of it.

Who can resist this face? Shane was the best cheerleader there!

I love awesome deals!

I mentioned before that I went to a coupon class with my Mother in law last week. When we walked out the door we were all handed little gift bags. Inside my bag was a flyer for free bowling. My family LOVES to go bowling but it's kind of expensive so we don't go very often. Well imagine my excitement when I started looking into it. This is an offer for EVERYONE, you didn't have to go to the conference to reap the benefits of this and you don't even have to live in Utah so you friends of mine from out of State have this opportunity as well. I have never heard of this before and I'm not sure how I would have learned about it had I not gone to the conference but I'm glad I did and I am here today to share it all with you. I know, super nice, right?

Go to kidsbowlfree.com Click on the State that you are interested in and it will give you a list of participating bowling ally's. Click on the one nearest you and you can sign your kids up to receive TWO FREE BOWLING GAMES EVERYDAY BETWEEN MAY AND SEPTEMBER. Super sweet deal don't ya think, not only that but you get a chance to buy a family pass for only $24.99 and you can put up to four adults on it. I added me, Tyler, my Mom and my Dad so that means we get to bowl two games everyday with the kids. The best part about it is if Tyler and I are not able to go then my parents can take them anytime. If you have a babysitter, add them to the adult family pass and they can take the kids. In order for your kids to get free bowling they have to be 15 or younger. If you have kids that are older add them to the family pass and it is still a great deal.

If you don't like to bowl but your kids love it just get the kids pass, you don't have to have the family pass for your kids to go free. Another awesome thing about getting the family pass is when you pay for it you get a free $25 gift card to a restaurant of your choice.....pretty awesome.

Hope I see some of you at the bowling ally.....can't wait.

A whole lot of nothing

I haven't really had much to blog about lately. This blog is just bits and pieces of what we did this weekend. I didn't really feel like one particular item was blog worthy so I felt if I put everything together in one post it would be more interesting....maybe not?

Tyler's Mom knows that I have been into couponing and trying to find the best deals possible on my groceries so she got my Sister-in-law Mary, me and her a ticket to go to the freebies 2 deals coupon conference on Saturday. A lot of what was being taught was stuff I already knew about but there are a few things I want to look further into so I'm glad I went and I had a great time with Mary and Merilyn. When we were finished at the conference we headed over to IKEA to look around. I had never been there before and if I ever just need to stop in for a quick item IKEA would not be the place I would go. It was so crazy! We were there for two hours and most of that time was spent trying to figure out where we were. They do have a lot of fun stuff though.

When I got home we all dropped the car off for an oil change and then headed over to the grocery store. We spend so much more money when Tyler is with me. The cashier kept scanning items that I had no idea had been dropped into the basket. I just had to laugh. I mean after all we did need lot's of treats for family movie night.

Remember when Shay was sick and my Mom bought her a Easter house craft. Well Britton has been sick too and he got a gem digging kit. The weather was so beautiful outside so we went out and the kids worked on digging for gems.

This was right up Britton's ally. The kit came with a poster of the gems you could possibly find so he looked them up and learned all about them. Very cool!

That night for Family movie night we watched The Never Ending Story. Britton didn't care to much for it at first but by the end he was totally into it. His favorite part was seeing Artex (the horse) running again at the end of the show. He was pretty bothered by the fact that he sank in the mud. Shayna's favorite part was at the very end of the show when the little boy and Falkor the luckdragon scared the bully's. I love that part too!

OH! I almost forgot my most favorite part of Saturday. I got to go to Michaels Craft store for more crocheting items. Look what I made!

This actually was not made for Britton. I made it for my Mom but Britton was the only one that would model it for me. Thanks for the help Bud. Your the BEST! Dad, yours is on the way.

Sunday was a fun filled day as well. I finally watched New Moon. It wasn't as good as I wanted it to be, it was pretty boring. When reading the books I was a HUGE Edward fan but watching the movie I was a total Jacob fan, he is waaaay better looking. After the movie I had every intention of cleaning the house and doing laundry, but the weather was so nice I just couldn't do it. I did get the toilets disinfected and the laundry done but that was it. We needed to go to Low's for some lawn fertilizer so we decided to make a day of it. First we headed over to Starbucks for some coffee and hot chocolate for the kids. On the walk over to the pet store Britton dropped his hot chocolate and spilled all of it. Shayna was nice enough to share hers. We went to the pet store just to look around. Britton wants a snake so bad and Shayna wants a Chameleon. If it's up to me neither one of them will get what they want. Tyler seems to think that a chameleon would make a great Birthday gift for Shay....Please God, I pray that my Family will see things my way. Remember how Shayna was nice enough to share her hot chocolate with Britton? You guessed it, he dropped hers to. All over the Petco floor. What the Heck! Don't ask, I don't know how he managed it. Luckily there was a cleaning station close by so we got it cleaned up before anybody noticed.....good times. The pet store didn't have any Chameleons. WAHOO! So we headed over to Low's. While getting the fertilizer the kids found some starter kits to grow watermelon. Of course we had to get them. When we got home we got them planted. They will be growing in the house until they get leaves then they will be transplanted outside. I hope they work. We go through so much watermelon in the summer, it's crazy! When Tyler finished up with the lawn we went for a short bike ride to the park, played for a few minutes then rode back home. Everyone was getting pretty hungry. We had the most delicious dinner made on the Bar-b-q. I LOVE warm weather!

It was a busy, fun, not long enough weekend.

We have awesome neighbors!

I don't think I have ever mentioned our neighbors Buzz and Jan. They are the neatest people in the world. They have a ton of Grand kids and they treat my kids like their own. They are always telling us what great kids Britton and Shayna are. They would do anything for us, it's nice to know they are there.

They found out that both of the kids were student's of the week so Friday night they brought the kids each their own box of ice cream sandwiches. They are so thoughtful.

I wish I would have taken pictures of the kids Thank you cards. They were so cute! Britton wrote a poem for them and Shayna said she loves them. Tyler and I also got them a little Thank you note. We appreciate them so much.

Thank you Buzz and Jan, your really are amazing people. (They have no idea this blog exists)

Activities

Saturday was Britton's last indoor soccer game for the season. They played two games that day. His team lost the first game, Britton got one goal during that game and then they won the second game and Britton scored four goals!

I didn't get any pictures during the games because I was too busy recording them. But here are some pictures afterwards.

Britton, Beckham and Sonny

I'm so sad that these games are over. I really enjoyed watching them and I know Britton absolutely loved playing with his cousins.

Good thing out door starts next week, he will be playing on Thursday nights and Saturday mornings.

I had to include this picture of Shayna

It was taken just a few hours before she started throwing up.

Good thing she made it through the two games. Poor thing was so sick, so far she is the only one that got it.

Since she was so sick I stayed home from work on Monday to be with her, not to mention that the house needed to be completely disinfected, it took me seven hours, I hated every minute of it but at least I know I can touch door handles and light switches without feeling all creepy crawly. And I took advantage of the time and got all of my Easter decorations up. By the time I was done she was feeling much better but still wasn't eating much and had a bit of a fever. My Mom brought her a craft to do because she was getting pretty bored sitting at home. Thanks Mom, you saved the day!

As I have mentioned before I have been doing a lot of crocheting. Real Soccer season starts in a couple of weeks so I figured to show our support I would make beanies and headbands.

I think I am going to make me a headband like Shay's, I look pretty scary in hats.

Student(s) of the week!

Each week every class has a student of the week. The Teacher chooses who she feels deserves it and they get these little certificates that they take down to the Principals office. They get to pick out some prizes and they get a certificate to Burger King for a free hamburger.

It just so happened that both Britton and Shayna were nominated as student of the week this week.

Saturday Tyler had to work all day and the kids and I went to Shane's apartment to do some deep cleaning. Once I was done with that I wanted to have some fun so I took the kids (and Shane) to get their free hamburgers. We went inside and sat down for a fun little lunch. Then we went to Blockbuster to pick out some movies for our family movie night. We chose Where the Wild Things are (don't waste your time, worst movie EVER!) and Cloudy with a chance of meatballs. I let the kids each pick out a movie theater size box of candy, some drinks and some popcorn. After we left Blockbuster we went and got ice cream cones. By this time Shane had had enough of us so he asked me to take him home.

After we dropped Shane off we went to the park, it was a beautiful day, 50 degrees and sunny. I just couldn't stand the thought of being inside. We played there for almost two hours. When we got home the kids and I played Mario Kart on the Wii until Tyler got home. After visiting with him for a few minutes and showing him his new bar stool cover we started dinner and watched a movie.

It was a great day!!

Oh and by the way. I'm sporting a new window sticker. It says "proud parent of a Woods Cross Elementary honor roll student".

Way to go Britton, I Couldn't be prouder!

My projects

I think I'm a fan of crocheting. I really enjoy it, I'm not awesome at it, but I enjoy it. Since I finished crocheting the blanket a while back I have been working on other little projects. We have a bar in our basement and it's pretty boring as far as decoration goes. I have decided that I want to decorate with a Real Soccer sports theme. I told Tyler my idea and of course he LOVED it. I started with a stool cover. This is the bartender stool. It obviously needs to be painted but here it is.

I only have five more stools to go. I will take pictures when it is done.....it will be a while.

I have also crocheted some flowers and I turned them into barrettes for Shay's hair.

Shayna got her very own flower for Valentines day. She has been taking such good care of it. She asked me if I would make her something for it to sit on. She picked the colors, it goes perfectly with the flowers that are on this plant (not pictured....obviously).

I felt that Hilda (the cat) needed a new toy so I made her a butterfly. She likes it ok, I guess it's not as great as her mouse.

I even made my mom a crochet hook holder. I wish I would have taken a picture of it before I gave it to her. It turned out pretty cute, mistakes and all.

My current project that I am working on is beanie's. Real Salt Lake soccer season opener is at the end of this month. I have had some requests (Tyler, Britton and Dad) to make beanie's in the Real colors. Hopefully they turn out, I don't have much time.

A HUGE Thank you to my Mom!

My kids have been sick with the typical nasty cold and fevers. It started last week with Britton. He missed three days of school. Of course it was during the last week of the month and I had so many things going on at work that I didn't feel like I could call in. Thank goodness for my Mom. It is so nice knowing that someone that loves my kids as much as I do is taking care of them. It helps ease the pain of going to work and not being with them. Truth be told they would rather be with her anyway.

So Thank you Mom for all of the energy you put into being with Britton and Shayna. They love you so much.....so do I!
