I am blessed beyond words.

Because I have two amazing children whom I love with every fiber of my being. I am a snuggeler. I love to snuggle with my kids every chance I get. Shayna is also a snuggler. She let's me kiss and hug and love her pretty much whenever I want. Britton is a little different, it has to be on his terms.

The last few weeks Britton has been coming out of his room at night, after he has been tucked in. He climbs up on the couch with me and snuggles for as long as I will allow. I know in my mind this is his way of avoiding sleep but in my heart I don't care. It's our time, and I'm savoring it.

The other night he asked me why I allow him to do this. I told him because there will be a time when he will not want to give me hugs. He will think it is awkward and very un-cool. I told him I just wanted to enjoy the little things, like hugs, because some day they will become big things, things that he will roll his eyes at and try with all his might to avoid.

He promised it would never be like that. Not even in college.

I'm going to make him write it down in his perfect penmanship and sign it in his perfect cursive.

HaPpY EaStEr!

We had a great Easter this year. Minus Shay's 7 year old attitude. But that's not what this post is about. It's about all of the fun we had.
Saturday we took the kids to the egg hunt that was at their school. While we waited for it to begin we let them play at the playground.

They got a lot of candy from the egg hunt.

Once all the eggs were found we headed into the gym for some games.

This is the cake walk, neither one of them won, but that was OK, the cake was actually just a twinkie....so gross!

And then they got their pictures with the Easter Bunny. I was actually shocked that Shay did this. She still hates anything dressed up. But she said "you can totally tell it's fake Mom" So I guess that's why she was brave.

We entered the kids name in a drawing to win a Easter Basket. Here they are waiting for the results.

And guess who won!!!!

I actually put both of the kids name on every ticket we entered. So technically both of the kids won but they only read Britton's name so Shay wouldn't have her picture with it. (attitude remember)
Shayna was still feeling sad when we got home so we decided to make Easter treats. We wanted to make Rice Crispy treats in the shape of eggs. I will NEVER do this again. It was so messy and took forever and they didn't even turn out...see.

We ended up just dumping the rest of the rice crispys into a dish and calling it good.

Later that evening we headed over to my parents house for egg dying and dinner.
I made the kids wear their pajamas. I knew it would be a late night and I also didn't want them to get dye on their clothes.

We ended up with four dozen. Anybody want to come to my house for an egg eating party?

When we got home the kids left the Easter Bunny some food and a note. In the note they asked if the Easter Bunny was a boy or a girl. I kept telling them it was a boy and that is name is Peter Cottontail. But Shayna said that the person who wrote the song probably didn't know for sure so they just wrote lyrics that sounded good...So, hence the note.

Sunday: It's Easter Hip Hip Horray!

The Easter Bunny filled the baskets with candy and Britton got new shoes

and Shayna got a new swim suit.

The Bunny also left a note for the kids saying "you've been egged" and it's true, there were eggs hidden all over the house. And of course they were filled with more candy.

The Easter Bunny also left a note asking the kids what they wanted to do for the day. Their choices were to see the show Hop starring the Easter Bunny himself or go swimming.

We ended up going to see Hop. It was a cute show. The kids really enjoyed it and it was fun to do something different. We seriously NEVER go to the movies. Britton ate an extra large tub of popcorn all by himself. I really wish I had a picture of that.

And SURPRISE when we got home we found out that the Easter Bunny returned with yet more candy.

I think that Shayna woke up too early on Easter Morning (6:30) so the Bunny couldn't finish his job. He must have had to wait until we left the house to finish up.....or something like that. (Thanks Mom and Dad!)

P.S. The Easter Bunny responded to the kids not and in fact he is a boy and his name is Peter. (does anyone not agree?)

Shayna's B-day party!

Shayna's party was a success! It was a lot of work and I am so glad it's over. I told the kids that we are only having friend party's every other year. By the time I purchased all of the decorations and gift bags for the kids I could have bought Shay a pretty sweet gift. I would much rather spend that money on her. I'm looking forward to next year! The theme for the party was Under the Sea. I got the idea off of Family Fun. Once I started searching under the sea party's on the Internet I came across so many fun ideas. Here is the cake that Tyler and I made. He cut the cake into the fish shape and put the necco wafers on for me. I did the frosting. We make a good team don't we?

Here is the entrance to the basement.

The basement decor.

The balloons are meant to represent bubbles....

I had this sign personalized for her. She LOVED it!

What a cute girl!

More of the decor....We served Swedish fish, gummy worms, gummy sharks and gold fish crackers.

We put some sea creatures in the bathtub.

We played musical fish...sort of like musical chairs. Little mermaid's under the sea was the song we used.

Then we played pin the fin on the fish

This is where all the fins ended up. It was hilarious.

Opening all of the gifts.

Shayna and Sloane

Shayna and Leah

Shayna and Ava

Shayna and Kate

Shayna and Sara

Shayna and Ashlyn

The whole gang.

After gifts we went upstairs for cake and ice cream. I didn't get any pictures because I recorded it. I didn't even think to take pictures....duh!

Then we headed out for the pinata. Earlier that day it had rained and the day before we had our yard aerated so it was pretty muddy. We ended up having to do the pinata in the garage but it worked out well.

It was a great party and Shayna had a ton of fun. Did I mention I'm glad it's over?

After the party we headed over to my parents house for dinner. Thanks for feeding us all Mom and Dad we sure appreciate you!

HaPpY BiRtHdAy Shayna!

I seriously can't believe my Baby is seven. Where did the time go? Crazy! This is one SPOILED girl. She is having so many Birthday celebrations. She got one in Moab. Now this one on her real Birthday and she is celebrating her Birthday with her classmates at school and she has her friend party coming up this weekend. WOW! First of all we went to Britton's first outdoor soccer game of the season. Britton's team won 3 - 1. Britton got two of the goals. We had my Parents, Shane, Bradley and Jonny over for a little party. She chose to eat Kentucky Fried Chicken for dinner and then we opened presents. She got a icee maker with all the accessories from me, Ty and Britton. Jonny and Bradley gave her a Princess coloring book and zero gravity Easter eggs, Uncle Jordan was in town but had to catch his flight before the party began but he gave her the soccer necklace she has been wanting. Grandma and Grandpa Carver gave her a bunch of money that she was thrilled about and Grandma and Grandpa Turner gave her a brand new bike. What a lucky girl. She is also very excited that she got to fill up the Birthday bag with a few of her favorite things to show to her classmates. She handed out ding dongs for her treat. Thank you everyone for making her day special.
