Dinner with friends

I forgot to take my camera when I went to dinner at Olive Garden with my friends so I have been waiting so patiently for my friend Kim to post about this so that I could steal the picture from her. So thank you Kim for FINALLY posting. Just kidding, thanks for letting me steal from you.

Happy 24th of July!

We actually had a very boring 24th of July this year. Tyler had to work for most of it and Britton had school the next day so we couldn't stay up late to do fireworks.....just another reason to hate year round school.

This started off our celebration. Shayna did my hair because she thought I needed to look beautiful to go to the park. She was upset when I actually didn't go to the park looking like that. But she did a great job don't ya think.

This is at a local park, they had a small carnival going on so I took the kids and they rode on the Ferris wheel.
Standing in line. It was soooo HOT!!

Here they are on the ride. I was waiting in the sun for them. There was no shade by the Ferris wheel. I was seriously sweating.

I made them pose in front of the Tee pee. They didn't want to because it was to hot to stand in the sun.

Here they are in an obstacle course. This looked like so much fun but they could hardly touch it because the sun had been shining on it all day. They didn't make it all the way through the course because it was to dang hot. When I lifted them off they were drenched in sweat.....Gross!

After this we went and bought a bottle of water and then went home. Did I mention it was HOT!
A couple of hours after we got back from the park Tyler was home and the kids couldn't wait any longer to do their fireworks. We didn't get much because like I say we had to be up early the next morning for school. So we did a little bit of sparklers.

and some smoke bombs

and the kids threw pops at the smoke.
Exciting I know.
Friday Tyler had to go to Provo to pick up some products so we decided to ride along with him. It took him about an hour to get all of the supplies he needed so the kids and I went and visited the ducks.
Momma and her babies. They were so cute. The Mom duck was not at all pleased that I was there taking pictures. She was so protective of her little ones. It was so funny.
Watching the ducks through the gate. Apparently only employees are allowed.
Well Happy 24th to everyone. Hope it was more eventful then ours!

Brittons first day of 1st Grade.......a BUST!

I took Monday morning off from work so I could take Britton to his first day of 1st grade. It was so nice to sleep in until 7:00 am. I had a good relaxing half hour, I wasn't rushing to get myself ready and my morning was going smoothly. I woke the kids up at 7:30, when I went to get Britton out of bed he was already awake, just laying there. The first thing he said to me was "my tummy hurts" I thought ok, he's just a little nervous for today he will be fine, so I made him get up and he went and layed down on the couch while I got breakfast ready. I told him to eat his breakfast all gone because it was going to be a while before he got to eat again and I went to finish getting myself ready. When I came back he was sitting at the kitchen table just looking at his food, he didn't even take one bite. So I asked him if he was just really nervous to go to school, he said he wasn't nervous, he really wanted to go he just wasn't feeling well. So I got him dressed and did his hair and told him to go try to eat again while I got Shay ready for the day. He took two bites and ran to the bathroom to throw up.....and he had a fever, so it wasn't nerves after all. He really was sick. GGRRRRR!!! I can't believe he missed the first day of school!! The first day of school the parents go with their students and meet the teachers and then they have a little meeting for parents. So I went by myself......

These pictures are from the 2nd day of school. First day for Britton.

He had a lot of fun and loves first grade. No tears this year...YEAH!! I was so worried that he was going to be hungry and that it was going to be the longest day of his life, but he was fine and enjoyed every part of first grade. He is growing up too fast.

He finally did it!!!

Finally, Success!! We took Britton's training wheels off last year, but Tyler was gone so much that we didn't really get a chance to teach him. I tried one day and he crashed, kind of bad, and he refused to ride after that so I took him to the store and got him some knee pads, elbow pads and gloves hoping that would give him some confidence. It didn't work so the training wheels went back on......until yesterday. We loaded up the kids and the bikes and went to the park. Britton still didn't want to try riding with out his gear but after riding for a while he said he didn't need it. YEAH!! Tyler put Britton on his bike and he just took off. Ty ran beside him just in case, but it wasn't necessary. He rode like a pro. He still struggles with sharp turns, stops (he just crashes on the grass) and getting started, but hey, once he's on, he's on.

Shayna was feeling a little jealous and wanted her training wheels off too! It didn't last.

So she rode scooters with her Dad instead. Tylers on Brittons scooter that we took to the park just in case bike riding was unsuccessful.

And of course Shayna wanted her picture taken with the horses. Apparently it doesn't matter if they are real or not. She LOVES horses.

When we got home Britton had to call his Grandma and Grandpa to come over and watch him ride, he was sooo excited to tell them all about it.
Thanks Mom and Dad for coming over, it made his day!

Moab Vacation

I was in desperate need of a vacation so I took some time off from work and went to Moab with my Mom, my kids and my Brother for 10 days. I even lost track of time there was a few day's there that I didn't even know what day it was. It was HEAVENLY!!! It was so nice to be able to spend that much time with my Grandma but it was HOT! Tyler and my Dad met us down there on the fourth of July and stayed that weekend. Here are some of the highlights of the trip in no particular order, I don't remember what we did on what day.

One of the first things we did was visit my cousin Jared and his family. They just had a new baby and she is so cute!

While we were there Jared set up their huge water slide for the kids to play. My kids loved this slide and Shay cried when it was time to leave and every day that we were in Moab Shayna begged to go back.

My Grandma also bought a pool for the kids to play in so they got to play in the water everyday which was great because it was so hot. We would go do whatever we wanted to do for the day then come back and swim to cool off.

We even got to meet up with Rachel and her cute kids while we were there. One night she made us a yummy dinner and then we took the kids to the movie Wall-E. I have no idea why I don't have pictures, I had my camera with me.

There is a Dinosaur site out towards the Moab airport. It's really cool, you walk along a trail and stop at these signs that tell you all about the dinosaur bones that you are seeing. The bones are actually still there. Britton absolutely loved this, it made him even more excited to become an archaeologist or a paleontologist.

This is a new bike bridge that was built over the Colorado River, it's meant for bikes but we wanted to walk across it. It's actually a really nice walk.....and pretty!

I love this picture. Shayna held Shane's hand the whole time. He would tease her and say he was going to jump in the water and go for a swim and then he would walk closer to the side, so she held his hand so he wouldn't do it.

Shayna loves her Uncle Shane so much and he loves her back. They have a special bond between them it is so sweet, I just love it!

The kids wanted to play at the sand dunes but it was so hot and there was absolutely no shade on the dunes so we decided to take them to Sand Dune Arch, it was perfect. It's a pretty short hike and there are areas that are shaded. Although to get to the arch you have to walk through a lot of sand that is not shaded and I was wearing flip flops and it BURNED. I finally just took off my flip flops and ran for it.

Britton found this "very comfy" spot to lay in the shade. It was nice and cool down in the rock.

Here we are at the Hole N' The Rock! I can't believe someone made a home out of the mountain. I was glad I went on this tour again, I really wanted the kids to see it and I didn't realize how much I had forgotten about. It's very cool. I would live there if I could.

Up those stairs and under that rock is where the couple that lived there is buried.

The next few pictures are taken on the grounds by the whole in the rock home.

Can you see the rabbit?

They have ostriches there, not sure why, but the kids wanted to feed them. Britton thought it was hilarious that one of them was named Douglas (my Dad's name and Britton's middle name) When you get the food you are supposed to put it through the slot to the right of the picture but every time we tried an ostrich would be there pecking at us trying to get the food. There are signs posted everywhere saying "warning, will bite" so we ended up just throwing the food at them.

The following pictures are from the fourth of July, and Tyler and my Dad are finally in town. There was a fourth of July fair at the City park. My Grandma is a member of a singing group called Valley Voices and they performed at the fair. It started off with a VERY SMALL parade. It lasted about 8 minutes.

There were all kinds of activities for the kids to do like:
Fishing,

and jumping in a blow up castle,

and eating cotton candy.

Of course she's on a horse, where else would she be?

There was a live Country band playing all the way from Price, Utah. Shay loved the music and danced to it for a very long time, she gathered quite the crowed watching her. She makes me laugh.

There is my Grandma singing with the Valley Voices, they did a great job. It was really neat to see my Grandma perform. The lady that is leading is Kip's Mom.

Here is the crazy clan after the performance. Shane, Aunt Vonda(she is my Grandma's Aunt) Uncle Bill(Grandma's Brother) Grandma and Inalyn(Uncle Bill's wife).

The fire work show didn't start until 10:00 so we decided rather then dealing with the crowed with tired kids we just watched the fire works from the front porch of the guest house. I'm glad we did it this way. When the kids got tired we just walked a few steps to the front door of Grandma's house and put them to bed. PERFECT!!

Saturday we woke up and took the kids to the park to play. We got a pizza and had a picnic then took some pictures. I wish I was a professional photographer, I think this would be a really neat spot for some nice pictures.

Pretty Girl.

Uncle Shane making us laugh. He is like Shayna he likes to make up his own poses!

Like this one!

Britton wouldn't pose by this rock until I let him climb it!

Cute kids!

I wish I had her recorded at this point, I wanted her to smile and she said "but it will be more dramatic this way" where does she get it?

We were feeding the ducks at the park our pizza crust. When all of a sudden we hear crashing in the water, Britton was feeding his crust to some HUGE carp fish. They were fighting for the food, you could actually here them sucking in the food. Gross!!!

Later that evening we went for a ride up the La Sal Mountains where it was a little cooler. This next picture is Kips (a friend of ours that lives in Moab) Mom and Dad's cabin, it is so cute, I would love to have something like that in the mountains. I guess my Mom and Dad's condo will do, I love it there to.

Kip showing off his trophy kill.

We stopped at Buck Eye lake for a picnic dinner, I didn't get many pictures but you get the idea.

This little place used to actually be a home in the 1800's. The kids thought it was so cool and wondered why we didn't live in something like that.

I let Shay paint her toes all by herself so I had to get a picture.

She did good don't ya think!

Well there it is, my lovely vacation that I really, really enjoyed. I can't wait to go back!

I LOVE MOAB!!!!
