Britton had a practice game last night. We still don't have a schedule for his games but a couple of the teams wanted to get together to practice. So we got to watch our first soccer game of the season even though it didn't count. Probably a good thing because our team lost. But at least some goals were made. Britton had two of the goals. I can't wait for the season to officially start!
SCHOOL: Britton has been doing really well at school. I have not heard him complain at all. Shayna on the other hand is struggling. This is the first time she has had to go to school all day. She is so exhausted by bed time. Last night she had a little melt down.
She doesn't like school lunch. Everyday she has asked me to pack her a home lunch. I told her to try to get through the first week and she will get the hang of it. If she still wants a home lunch after that we can pack her one every once in a while. I guess during lunch time she started to cry. She was just having a rough day and wanted to be at home. Her teacher gave her a little hug and told her it would get better. It makes me so sad, I wish I could just keep her home. I know how she feels. I was always the same way.
It didn't help that her new shoes gave her blisters. Yesterday was also P.E. day. With her blister she wasn't able to participate so the teacher let her be the helper. Ahhhh! I feel so bad.
Last night during her shower she just started crying and had a bit of a tantrum. I know she is tired and she has been stressed and the fact that the water stung her blister sure didn't help. I know she just needs us to be patient with her.
I can't wait for this week to be over. I know next week will be much better after she has the weekend to rejuvenate. I know the second week of school was always better for me.

First day of school. Shayna 1st, Britton 3rd.
The first day of school was a success! I can't believe my kids are getting so big. Britton is in 3rd grade and as you can tell from the pictures I had a very hard time getting him to cooperate. He was just so excited to start school. He has Mrs. Simmons this year and is very excited about that. He has a bunch of good friends in his class, including his best friend Alex.
Shayna was very good about posing for me. And she looked so cute! My baby is in first grade. I can't believe it. She has Mrs Taylor and she really likes her. She only has two of her friends in her class with her but it worked out well because her best friend Ava is in her class.
Cute kids. They are getting to big.
I had to show off Shay's hair. She picked out this hairstyle for her first day of school. Next time we will make sure to practice a hair style before we have to be somewhere important. But it turned out cute enough!
I'm really bugged about how they did the first day of school this year. The teachers stood out in front of the school holding signs up with their names on it. You had to find your teacher and weave in and out of a massive crowd of people to drop of your child. You said your goodbyes and then left. Back to school night will be Thursday night but kids are not invited. I will be missing Britton's soccer so I can go meet their teachers. Really, really dumb.

Happy Birthday Mom!
I can't believe my Mom is 60. She certainly doesn't act it or look it. For Mom's Birthday I decided I would surprise her with a night away to relax. I made reservations at Sherwood Hills resort and spa.....thanks Dad for paying, your the BEST!! My Mom had no idea what was going on. A week ago when they were out of town I left an invitation and a plant in her kitchen for her to see when she got home. The invitation said "Your invited to your own party! You will be going away for a luxurious one night stay, your ride will pick you up Saturday at 2:00.....no questions allowed!!" She had no idea who she was going with or where she was going. She thought for sure she had it all figured out though. She just knew she was going to Wendover with Dad, Dennis and Charlene. She started to second guess that when Dad wasn't getting ready to go anywhere. Haha! We fooled her. Tyler the kids and I showed up to her house a little early and pretended we were waiting to see who was going to pick her up. After visiting for about 15 minutes I said "well, your rides here are you ready to go?" She was pretty shocked and excited. I didn't tell her where we were going or what we were doing until we pulled in.
We arrived about 45 minutes before our Manicures and Pedicures were to begin so we decided to walk the grounds. As we were walking out of the doors their was a sign that said "DANGER, there have been moose sightings, please be aware!" We were excited to see the Moose so the sign didn't stop us. But....the only scary thing we saw was this....
And this. A little shack on your way to the outdoor theater.
And this. We are not sure what this is for but it made me feel like I was in the middle of a scary movie. I told my Mom that any minute now we would be murdered.
My Mom made me pose in front of a light post. Not sure why.
The swimming pool was actually really nice. Minus the weird paining on the wall. I wish we had time to enjoy it. You can turn on a waterfall that falls into the hot tub. It was pretty cool.
The view from our room. It was very pretty.
By the time we got done with all of our picture taking it was time to head down to the spa. This is where it all gets a little weird.
We headed down the stairs and down a very long dark hallway and turned the corner to the spa. When we got there the doors were locked. There was a little phone on the wall so I called the front desk and they told me they didn't have me booked. WHAT? He could tell I wasn't very pleased so he told me to go back to my room and wait for him to call back. He was going to try to get a hold of the spa tech. We headed back to our room and waited, and waited and waited some more. Twenty minutes later we decided to go to the front desk and see what was going on. We had to wait in line for a bit and when we got up there he's like oh, ok, hold on, I will call her. K, you were supposed to do that twenty minutes ago. Anyway he gets a hold of the lady and she said she lost her appointment book and forgot all about us. She lives about 15 minutes away so to wait in our room and she will call us when she gets there. We went back to our room and visited for about another thirty minutes and still hadn't heard anything so we head back down to the front desk. I said have you happened to hear anything from her and he was like what? she hasn't called you? She's been here for a while. So he calls her again and she says just send us down. So we head back down to the spa and walk through the doors and have no idea where to go. There is nobody there to help us out so we start wondering around and found her in the pedicure room cleaning. So she shows us to the waiting room where we have to wait another ten minutes for her to clean and get ready. An hour and a half after our appointment was supposed to start we are finally getting our manicures and pedicures but on the short notice she is the only one there so she has to do both of our 60 minute pedicures and 30 minute manicures. We had to wait for each other to get done. which was ok but we were there WAY longer then we expected and we were STARVING. We finally got out of there at 8:40 and had to hurry to the restaurant to get food before they closed at 9:00. But, she didn't make us pay for one of the manicures so that was good.
At dinner we had the craziest waitress. She was very nice but a little odd. I noticed that there was something black in my glass so I called her over (after her 20 minute conversation with some other people on her five month old daughter) to get me a new one. She picked up my glass and started inspecting it. Then she stuck her thumb into my glass and smeared it out. As she proceeded to rub it through her fingers she says, hmm, yeah that is gross. I think it was a flying ant. I will get you a new glass. When she came back she asked us if we would like some wine. After we both told her no thank you she would not give up, just kept saying are you sure. We have a really delicious blackberry wine. I think you lady's would really enjoy it. Again, No thank you. Then she says well then, you at least have to smell it. After hitting my Mom in the nose with it, we still said no. But the food was so good, it made it all worth it. And we didn't have to pay for our appetizer because she forgot to put it on our ticket.....awesome!
We finally made it back to our room a little after ten. That is when I noticed that my nails needed to be re-filed. They were pretty crooked and I had fingerprints in my toenail polish. oh well. At least it was relaxing. I decided to take my shower so I wouldn't have to worry about it before breakfast the next morning. After a few minutes of trying to turn on the shower I had to call my Mom in to see if she could figure it out. It took a few more minutes before we noticed the itty bitty sign on the corner of the mirror how to turn it on. I took a nice long hot shower and felt so refreshed after that my Mom decided to shower. She was in for about 2 minutes when the fire alarm started to go off. At first I thought it was just an awful noise coming from really old pipes. Then I heard people running down the hall and a little kid saying "Mom I'm scared". I looked out the peep hole and saw people running so I poked my head into the bathroom and said um, Mom. I think the fire alarm is going off. At first she didn't believe me. I had to really convince her to get out of the shower. I called down to the front desk to see if it was in fact the fire alarm and indeed it was. We were told to head down to the lobby. My Mom absolutely refused to go down in her towel so as she was getting dressed I changed out of my jammies and back in to my clothes and headed down to the lobby. Good thing it was a false alarm. We were a little slow getting out of our room. When we were allowed to return to our room we changed back into our jammies and layed down on our beds. I looked at my Mom and said "do you feel like your in the twilight zone". It was seriously a bizarre day.
Breakfast the next morning didn't exactly go smoothly either. Again, really weird wait staff. But at least the food was good.
So sorry Mom! It wasn't exactly perfect and things did not go smoothly at all. But if it had we wouldn't have had so much fun. Thanks for being such a trooper Mom. Happy Birthday, I love you!

Good times!
We have had a lot going on. Britton and Shayna have been having all kinds of fun! The problem is, there is not one single picture to prove it.
Grandma and Grandpa Turner told the kids at the beginning of summer if they read a certain amount of books before school started they would take them to Kangaroo Zoo. Well the goals were met so off they went. They had a great time and want to go back again soon.
Last night Tyler and Britton were invited to go to the RSL game with Tyler's student. Apparently it was an awesome game. We have it recorded and I told Tyler he had to watch it with me. We already know the outcome and they saw it in person but I am so excited to see it. Britton said that was the funnest game he has ever been to. I'm so glad they got to go!
While Tyler and Britton were at the RSL game Shayna, Grandma Sharon and I had a girls night out. We went to Applebee's for dinner (Shayna had a free kids meal coupon that she earned from school last year that needed to be used) then we went on a night walk. My kids love to go on walks when it is dark outside so that is what Shay chose to do. We didn't get to go on a very long walk because it was so windy and we were worried it would start raining any second....it never did. But when we got home Shayna wanted to read story's and play games. Spending time alone with Shayna is a privilege everyone should be so lucky to have. I can't believe how much that girl makes me laugh. She has the funnest personality and she say's the funniest things. I love that girl so much!!!
Our last weekend before school starts is upon us. I hope we can come up with some fun things to do.

Oh so crafty!
Shayna needed some hair bows to match her new outfits for school. While I was looking into buying some I couldn't believe how expensive they were. I was looking at them and thought "I can do that". So I went home and set to work.
I should have just bought them. I have absolutely no crafting skills. But I tried and she will be wearing them dang it.

Way back when....
About three or four weeks ago when Kim was in town from North Carolina we got together with some other friends for lunch. It was a great girls day out! It's so nice to get together with great friends. We don't get to see each other very often but when we do it's like we have never been apart. Conversation comes so easily and it's so fun to be with them. We have all known each other for years and years. And we have been through a lot together (all good of course). It's nice to know that these girls would do anything for me, and I for them. Thanks for all the great memories girls.

Meteor Showers and swimming!
We had a pretty busy weekend. The fun actually started for the kids and I on Thursday night. I had been telling the kids about the upcoming Meteor Shower and they both expressed interest in it so I decided that we would do a "camp out" and watch the show. Tyler had to work early the next morning so he didn't get to join us. The kids and I made a bed in the living room and laid out there until midnight then we took all of our blankets and pillows outside and watched the Meteors. It was so fun to see the kids reactions when they would see a shooting star. We laid out there for an hour and saw 16 shooting stars, finally at 1:00 am I made the kids go back to bed. I am so glad I took them out to see it. I was worried about them not getting any sleep because Friday was a long day with nothing fun to do.
Friday we had to get up and go to a Doctor appointment. Then we hurried over to pick up Shane and do some grocery shopping. After we dropped Shane off at his house and got his grocery's put away we had to run home and get our grocery's put away and then we were off to a hair appointment. But we were not done running around yet. We still had to get Shane to work. The kids were such troopers. We were all so tired from the lack of sleep from the night before. But they were so good! I was dragging them everywhere and they never once had a bad attitude.
Saturday I got up and cleaned the house and got all of the laundry done. Tyler did all of the yard work then we headed off to do the last of the school clothes shopping. But first we had to get Shane to work. The kids were less then thrilled to have another day of running around but we told them if they were good we would go to cold stone for ice cream! While we were out shopping Shane called and said he was all done at work. It was 2 hours early so we weren't expecting it. Tyler had to leave us at the store and go pick him up. So the kids and I picked out their clothes and wandered around waiting for Tyler to return. After that we headed over to Big 5 because they were having really good sales on athletic shoes. I got me a pair of shoes and of course they didn't have Tylers size but they did in Layton so we had to drive out there to get his shoes. The kids were so tired and hungry at this point so we took them to the cold stone in Layton. We finally got home after four hours of running around. Just in time to get dinner over before the Real Salt Lake game started. They won 2 - 0. WAHOO!
Sunday we took the kids to Surf -n- Swim. I think it was just what we needed after all of the running around we had done the day's prior. The kids had so much fun and Tyler and I had way more fun then we thought we would. We can't wait to go back. Hopefully we can get there again before the weather cools down to much.
Only one week until school starts. I'm still dreading it and the kids are so excited. I think we are a little backwards!

Why does it have to end.
Summer. Where is it going? I'm not ready for it to end. I don't want the kids to go back to school. I don't want them to have to be on a schedule. I like that I can come home from work and spend time with them without worrying about homework, bath time and what they are going to wear. I love that I have my Friday's off of work to spend with them. Yes I have to run a lot of errands on Friday's but they are with me and more importantly, I get to be with them.
Yesterday we went to the school to find out who their teachers will be and who is going to be in their classes. Britton is incredibly excited. He got the teacher he wanted, Mrs. Simmons. And one of his very best friends, (the one he is doing cub scouts with) Alex, is in his class along with Thomas and Adam. Both of which were on his soccer team last year. Shayna got Mrs. Taylor. I'm not sure who she is but Britton say's she is very old. He said he thinks she is like 71 or something. We are very excited though because her cute little friend Ava is in the class with her.
School clothes have been bought and backpacks are ready. Only 12 more days and 2 more Fridays until school starts. Hopefully we can get a few more fun summer activities in before then.

Cub Scouts
Britton has become a Cub Scout. He goes to a different ward so he can go with a friend. It works out great! He walks to his friends house then they walk together to the Scout Masters house. This is the first project they did.
We don't have his uniform yet. We have to go pick that up. As soon as we do I will post pictures.

Happy Birthday Dad!
I just wanted to say Happy Birthday Dad! Thanks for everything you do for my family. We appreciate you more then you know. I love you!!
We celebrated Dad's Birthday yesterday because he is headed back up to the condo tonight. He was home for two days. How did we get so lucky? To celebrate we went over to my Mom and Dad's house for dinner, desert and presents. We gave my Dad one of those cameras that you tie to a tree and then when it senses motion it starts taking pictures. We figured that would be a great gift sense he spends so much time at the condo and loves wild life. I'm hoping we see some bear.

Kids at the condo.
The kids are finally home! Yeah!! I missed them terribly but I know they had a great time and they were VERY WELL taken care of. I love that I can miss them and not have to worry about them too. I never worry when they are with my parents. Grandma and Papa tend to spoil them rotten and they love it. But do you know what the best part of this vacation was for me......LAUNDRY!! You know why I LoVeD it so much? Because it was done. DONE!! My Mom did all the laundry before they came home. I opened up the suitcase fully expecting to have ten loads of laundry to do and when I opened it the clothes were folded and smelled nice. WHAT? I called my Mom to make sure she wasn't just trying to fool me. But really, it was done. Thanks Mom and Dad. You really are the BEST!!
I got all of the following pictures off of my Mom's camera. It looks like they had so much fun!
Haha! I love this picture!
Shayna absolutely loved this dog (Sammy) as you can see, he loved her too.
These pictures crack me up. Sammy was doing everything Shayna was doing. And watching her every move. How cute is that?
Fishing. Britton caught the biggest fish and Shayna.....well, she fell in the lake.
