It's alive!

I think my tree is going to survive. It had some major roots cut but it's starting to get it's flowers. I don't think it would do that if it was going to die. I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway.

Some much needed yard work

Tyler and I have been working so hard in the yard. We had some curbing put in to make the yard look a little nicer. I really wish I would have taken before pictures. This is such a huge improvement.

We had to rake all of the old bark back towards the fence and lay down some new stuff for weed control. Then we raked all of the old bark back out evenly around the play area. We had some new bark delivered but they couldn't make it to the back yard so we had to shovel it into the wheelbarrow and dump it in the play yard then rake it out evenly. That was a lot of work and it was HOT!

We got two truck loads full of top soil to fill our flower beds. Again, lots of shoveling, wheelbarrowing, dumping, spreading and leveling.

Here's the flower bed in the back yard. I have to go this weekend for the flowers. I'm still not sure what I want to do with it. I do know I want to do some brick work for the hose. I just don't know what kind of brick work.

Here is the new front flower bed. They had to cut some roots on the tree to lay the curbing. I just hope it won't die. So far it looks good. I really, really want it to be ok, I love this tree. I planted lot's of new fun stuff. I can't wait until next year to see it all in bloom. The plants bloom at different times so for all of spring, summer and fall there should be a bloom somewhere. YIPPEE!!

And for the flower bed in front of the house I planted.....plants! I have some ideas for some rock to be added to that area and then I want to plant some annuals for some color. It will be so nice when that is done.

We still have a lot of work but it looks soooo much better. I love it!!

Happy Fathers Day!

Fathers Day was a lot of fun this year. In my opinion anyway. We celebrated a day early, Saturday, which was actually my Parents Anniversary. We decided to go bowling. But first we gave Tyler his gift. We all went in together and got him a bike. Thanks Mom and Dad for going in on this. He loves it.

We played two games and had lots of food and drinks, for some reason food and drinks makes it so much more fun for me. Here are a few pictures. I didn't take very many because I wanted to record it.

Sunday we went on a bike ride with my Mom and Dad and Shane. I didn't take any pictures although I wish I had. It was a fun day, I wish we had time to do it everyday.

Happy Fathers Day Tyler and Dad. Your the two best Dad's there are.

Moving on up....

Britton is still having pain from surgery. He has not returned to school yet and he didn't feel like spending the whole hour at karate so I called his Sifu to see if she would be willing to give Britton his award first so he could just be there for a few minutes. She was super nice about it. Here is Britton getting his purple belt.

He got a perfect score on his test so he is now a second degree purple belt. (If you get a perfect score you skip a degree)

Good job Britton I am so proud of you. You are quite the trooper, I hope you start feeling better SOON!!

I have great kids...Who knew?

Shayna has been struggling to find her place the last few days. Britton has been getting a lot of attention lately and Shay has been "acting out" to get some attention. Britton, being the sweet, sensitive boy that he is noticed that Shay needed some attention. He came to me the other day and asked me to make Shayna some tapioca pudding (her favorite snack) as a surprise. When I was finished making it I told Britton to go get Shay.

Shay walked in to the kitchen and Britton said "surprise Shayna, I asked Mom to make you some tapioca". Shay was very excited and asked Britton why he wanted to surprise her and he said "because you are such a good sister, and a good kid and we all just love you so much". Shayna gave Britton a huge hug and told him what a great big brother he is and that she loves him.

I love moments like this and of course it brought tears to my eyes. I really do have great kids.

On the mend.

Britton had a much better day yesterday, he didn't have to take pain meds until around 4:00 pm and then again at 9:00 pm. He has started eating much better too. He was able to eat some oatmeal for breakfast and scrambled eggs for dinner. He even slept through the night! After a rough couple of days I think he is going to be just fine....YEAH!!

Worst. Night. Ever.

I change my mind, I take it back. I don't want Britton to get his tonsils out.......Unfortunately it's too late. Last night was horrible. Britton woke up at about 1:00 am in so much pain. He couldn't swallow and he was crying so hard but it hurt like crazy to cry and he let himself get a little panicked so he couldn't catch his breath. His lips turned blue a couple of times. I know it happens but it's hard not to let myself freak out when I see blue lips. It took Tyler and I about twenty minutes to convince him if he could just swallow his medicine he would feel so much better. It's so hard to see your kid in pain. He was finally able to swallow the meds and about fifteen minutes after taking it he was asleep. I didn't sleep much because I was so worried. I just laid there listening for him. He seemed to do ok for the rest of the night. I'm actually surprised Shay didn't wake up with all of the commotion. Not to mention the thunder was the loudest I have heard in a long time. Today has been off and on with him, I can't wait until this is over. It better be worth it.

Today was a hard day for Britton

Wow! Today was rough. I guess it's to be expected, you usually feel worse the day after but I just didn't want to see him suffer AT ALL. The pain actually came on last night, he needed his first dose of pain medicine and when he took it he swallowed wrong and started coughing. It hurt him so bad, as you can imagine. That was so hard for me to watch I nearly broke down with him. Today he didn't want to take his pain medicine because he was scared, but I finally got him talked into it and he felt much better but you can sure tell when it starts to wear off. Other then that he is doing pretty good. The hardest part is finding foods for him to eat. Between what he can eat and what he will eat he's pretty limited, he's already lost a pound and if you know Britton you know he doesn't have a spare pound to lose.....Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

We're home

Britton made it through surgery. He did great! I was so amazed with him.

This is before surgery, just taking vitals. They gave him the cutest teddy bear to go to surgery with him. He named it Calvin.

Then he had to put on the hat.....very cute!

This is after surgery. Holding Dad's hand. He woke up really well, no problems at all.

About fourty minutes after waking up he was ready for a popcycle.

We are home now, and he is fine. He's playing with Shay and doing very well. I'm so proud of him, he is so brave. What a perfect child he is!!

Well it's off to watch movies, and eat popcycles. Gotta love quality time with the kids. I love it!

Pre Admit

Today we had to go to the hospital to get Britton Pre-admitted for his surgery tomorrow. He will be having his tonsils and adenoids removed. We have to be there at 6:45 am. Waaaay to early if you ask me.

Of course I had to take pictures of him. Even though this was only a day to do paper work.

In the waiting room.

The pre-admit nurse gave him a coloring book. Its information on surgery's so when we got home we read all about it and he colored and did the activities.

When we get back home from the hospital tomorrow I will do an update to let everyone know how he is doing. I'm sure he will be great, yesterday we went to the grocery store, you should see all of the ice cream and popcycles we came home with.....spoiled boy!

Karate test for purple belt

Britton's test was tonight. If he passes he will move on to purple belt. He doesn't go back to class for two weeks so we won't find out until then if he passed. I'm not worried, he did awesome!
