Dealing with the refrigerator....AGAIN!

Today is Tyler's day off so we had a repair man come look at our refrigerator to figure out what is wrong with it. The alarm is still randomly going off and when we push the button for ice, water comes out. Anyway, it was unfixable and it was recommended to us to go with a completely different brand. Tyler went back to RC Willey today to get the new fridge. It will be delivered today at 3:00.

Wish us luck!

Playing in the snow!

The kids couldn't resist the huge snow flakes! It was way too cold for me.

Once upon a time.....

Once upon a time I loved my new refrigerator. I thought it was going to be a fantastic addition to our family. It was the perfect size, it organized beautifully and it had all of the bells and whistles that made me smile. Well not anymore, I'm done.

About a week after we got our new refrigerator we had to have a new one delivered. The freezer wasn't freezing the food. Even after we put it down to -6 degrees the food was still soft. So we had to empty all of the food once again, unattached the water and wait two weeks for a new one to be delivered.

Our new one came two days ago....

We loaded all of our food back into the new one, reattached the water line and I HATE it!! The food in the freezer is soft AGAIN, and about 9:00 last night the alarm on the refrigerator started going off. If the door stays open too long there is a little ding dong sound that reminds you to shut it. Well that ding dong started going off and wouldn't stop. We tried calling customer service, they were closed, we tried unplugging it and plugging it back in and we read the entire owners manual and nothing worked. It would go dingdongdingdongdingdong then stop for a couple of minutes, then dingdongdingdong, and wait a couple of minutes then dingdong......all night. Tyler and I both refused to empty the food out again so we just laid and listened to the alarm. It finally stopped about 2:30 am. Today I'm MAD or maybe I'm just tired.....whatever.

Remeber

Remember how I said "I hope I don't have to paint all of Shay's fingernails".

O'well, we can't always get what we want.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Today is my Birthday! I had a good day, although Birthday's just are not what they used to be. But my kids made it VERY special. When I woke up Shayna brought me a piece of pie in bed. When I got done eating that she told me I should take a bubble bath and she even got it ready for me and she brought me my book. When I got out of the bath I saw that she had made my bed, her bed and Britton's bed and cleaned her room. Nobody asked her, she just did it. She is so special. Britton and Shayna both made me home made gifts which I of course loved. My parents, my Brother and my Grandma all gave me money so I went and bought me a pair of shoes, got my hair done and bought some hair supplies. Tyler bought me a mother's ring, I can't wait to get it, it had to be sized so I can't pick it up until Friday. We took the kids swimming today too. We actually had a lot of fun I think everybody's favorite part was the big slide. Thank you everybody for the gifts and the Happy Birthday emails! I had a great day!!

Girls Gone Wild!

OK, not really, but we had a lot of fun. Tyler's sisters Mary, Shelley and Kim invited me to go with them on their girls night out. Foreigner was touring in Wendover (of all places) and Mary's Husband got her four tickets and a hotel room for Christmas so we all packed up and headed out. When we arrived in Wendover we got to our Hotel room at the Peppermill and got ready for dinner. We went to the all you can eat buffet and stuffed ourselves silly. After dinner we headed back to our Hotel room to get ready for the concert.

Foreigner

The concert was a BLAST!! Shelley and I were dancin' fools. We didn't care who was watching us. There wasn't very many people dancing so we really stood out. Eventually we were able to convince Mary and Kim to stand up. About half way through the concert a guy named Eric (which we later learned) came up to Shelley and I and gave us back stage passes. We told him that we had two more people with us so he gave Kim and Mary backstage passes as well.

My backstage pass!

After the concert I called Tyler to let him know how cool we were to get back stage passes and he was less then thrilled. He didn't want us to go, he said "do you know what going back stage is all about, it's about SEX and DRUGS". I just laughed at him and told him I was going because I was curious. He called me naive about the same time the stage crew came to get us to take us back stage so I quickly said "gotta go, love ya bye".

Back stage there were Body Guards, Stage crew and five girls. Yep, just the four of us and one other girl who came back alone (she was crazy, maybe a little drunk). We had to sit and wait for them to eat and shower before they came in. The lead singer came in first. He introduced himself to us, shook our hands and let us get a picture with him. Then he said to us "well Ladies, we have a gig tomorrow night in Seattle so we gotta plane to catch, it was nice meeting you". And then he left. Wow! Wheres the SEX, Wheres the DRUGS, Wheres the freakin ROCK-N-ROLL....Whatevs....No really, we were relieved it was so "clean".

Shortly after that the rest of the band came in and we got to meet them and get our picture with them as well. They were all on their way out to go catch their flight and Mary said to Eric (the one that gave us the passes) can we get our picture with you since you are the one that made this all happen. So he obliged. When we were done with the picture he said to me "thanks for coming back, It was fun", and gave me a hug, he went to give me a kiss and I quickly turned my head so he got my cheek, What the....did I miss something. I guess Tyler was right, but it's not the band you have to worry about.....it's the freakin stage crew! Aaaahhh, I'm so lucky, I'm never washing my cheek again.....or something like that.

After the wild and crazy party was over (we were there for about 15 minutes) we headed back to our hotel. We stopped at the gift shop and bought tons of junk food then went to our room and played games and visited until 3:30 am. I haven't stayed up that late for a long, long time. These girls are so much fun to hang out with. I can't believe we don't do it more often.

Thanks again girls. I had so much fun and I really appreciate the invite. I hope we can do it again.

Thank you Tyler for keeping the kids and letting me go. Your the BEST!!
P.S.
None of us had our cameras with us so Mary took the pictures with her cell phone. As soon as she gets them downloaded she will send them to me. Once I get them I will update this post!

Evacuated!

At about 5:30 pm yesterday an explosion occurred at the Silver Eagle Refinery right by our house. I had a hard time getting home from work, they had all of our roads blocked off but I snuck through an apartment complex and was able to get to a side street that would lead to my house. When I got home Tyler and the kids were watching the news and they were saying that people needed to evacuate their homes. Policemen were running door to door telling people to leave their homes. It was really weird. From our front window we could see the flames being sprayed with water and we could hear all the sirens. Britton and Shayna were both so upset/scared. They didn't really understand what was going on. We grabbed our pajamas and tooth brushes and headed out. We decided to go out to dinner and then over to my parents house. We hung out at my parents house until they lifted the evacuation order at 9:30pm. They made it a voluntary evacuation and opened up Woods Cross High School for shelter. They said if we were too scared to go to our homes we could sleep at the shelter. Apparently there were a lot of people that stayed at the shelter but we went home. Everything turned out ok but we had quite the adventure.

I want to thank everyone that called to check on us. It means a lot to us that so many people care... We love you all.

On another note (but has some relation to the above post.....I think??)

A couple of weeks ago Shay told me she wanted to stop sucking her thumb because she doesn't want to look like a baby any more. I think someone at preschool may have said something to her. It makes me sad that someone made her feel bad but I am also thankful because I have tried (very gently) for about a year to get her to stop. I bought some nail polish that tastes bitter but she just said she could get used to the flavor and sucked her thumb any way. I tried reminding her not to put her thumb in her mouth when I would see her (which was ALL the time). We talked about how bad it could be on her teeth and nothing worked. So after she came to me and told me she was ready I started doing some research on the Internet and found a nail polish called Mavala Stop. It's Doctor recommended and guaranteed to work. I bought it and we have been using it on Shay's thumb. That stuff is NASTY! It has an awful bitter taste and makes your tongue feel a little numb and it burns your throat. You can taste it if you just touch your lips with your thumbnail. I felt bad that Shay had to go through it so I told her I would put it on my thumbnail too. Let me just say, you have no idea how often you put your hands by your mouth. I taste it every time I put something in my mouth or lick my fingers, its awful. But it was doing its job very well. Shay didn't want to get her thumb anywhere near her mouth until she realized she had another one. So after we painted both of her thumbnails I thought she would be cured. She has had the best attitude about it and never complained that we were doing this. She went three days without sucking her thumb, I was so proud of her. But last night on our way home from my parents house I noticed she was sucking her finger. I think she was feeling a little worried about everything and needed the security. We put her to bed and when Tyler went to bed he went in to check on her and noticed that she had fallen asleep sucking her thumb. GGRRRR, this is so frustrating, I hate that she is going through this, I really don't want to have to paint all of her fingers, she won't be able to eat, that stuff is seriously nasty. I guess we'll see.

Ice Skating

Today we took the kids ice skating for their first time. They actually did really well. Way better then I expected. They can't wait to go back but I am soooo sore. Its amazing all the muscles you use while ice skating and trying to hold kids up so they don't fall. But we had fun and will definitely go back!

Thank you Mom and Dad for being our Photographers!

Annoyed or Happy?

So this actually happened a week ago and I was so annoyed. Our refrigerator went out, luckily the Holiday's were over and all of our company was gone before it happened but it happened none the less. We have stored what we can out in the garage and in the snow banks, I wonder what our neighbors think. At least this is a good time of year for something like this to happen but what's so frustrating is we got money for Christmas that we had other plans for....I know, at least we had the money for it....Thanks again Mom and Dad, you always come through for us. So after all of the annoying searching we were doing trying to find a used one on KSL and looking on line for decent priced refrigerators we decided to go look at RC Willey's discounted products. I found a refrigerator that I LOVED. And even though it was way more then what we wanted to spend, we got it. (Thank you Ty for letting me talk you into it) Now I am so happy and I can't wait to get home to see it (it gets delivered today). Here is what we ended up with....

This is just a small picture I found on the website. My favorite part about this Fridge is the bottom drawer. You can choose if you want it to be a refrigerator or a freezer just by pushing a button and the ice maker has a button you can push and the freezer will make extra ice. No more buying bags of ice for our party's.....YIPEE!!

Happy New Year!!

This year our New Year was a lot more exciting then last year. I actually stayed awake for it. The kids are a little older and it was easier for them to stay up a little later. We ate dinner then made Zonkers and watched a movie. The kids picked out the movie Shrek the third. After we watched the movie we let the kids watch the count down for New York. After we did our cheering we put the kids to bed a little after ten. Once they were asleep Tyler and I put in a scary movie. We didn't even realize it was New Years until we heard the fire works, we said Happy New Year and went back to watching our show...EXCITING.

Happy New Year!!
