I love slow summer weekends!!

Weekends like this are my favorite. It was hot outside and the kids wanted to play on the slip and slide....I even got in on the action. Although there are no pictures to prove it, I went down the slide a few times. I'm paying for it today though. How can something so simple make you so sore. I must be too old for the slip and slide.



We also made some chicken wings and a few french fries and some onion rings just for fun. It all turned out so delicious.



We also played on the slip and slide on Sunday, when we were done the kids decided they wanted to go bowling so we called up Grandma Sharon and Uncle Shane and they met us at the bowling ally.





Did I mention I love weekends like this!!

Mom! Get the camera.

So Britton say's to me, "Mom, get the camera, your gonna want to blog about this. So I grabbed the camera and ran to his room not knowing what I would find.

This is what I found....

I asked him what he was doing or what he was dressed up as and he said "nothing, I just think this is going to look really cool and I wanted to see it. I asked him why he didn't go look in the mirror. Well duh! He can't see anything so he needed me to take a picture of it so he could take off the awesome outfit and look at it.

And apparently he thinks I blog about EVERYTHING so why not this too.

Summer Rec tumbling

Shayna is in a summer Recreation Tumbling class again this year. She loved it so much last year that we had to put her in again this year. And to my surprise she is so good that they moved her from the 6 and 7 year old group to the 8 and 9 year old class. She looks so tiny next to them

but she is learning a lot and loving it. I don't ever get to go watch her so I had my Mom take pictures for me....so of course I had to blog/brag about it!

Don't ask me what possessed us to do this. We finally gave in to the kids wanting a new pet. Britton wanted a snake and Shayna wanted a cat, dog or camillion so this is what I would agree to.

Hilda seems to think they look delicious.



The two hamster's we came home with fought like crazy when we put them in the cage together. The kids were freaking out so we had to go buy another cage. So two hamster's and two cages and way more money then we expected later, we have a happy family.

Happy Fathers Day to my amazing Husband. He is such a great Dad. After the kids gave him their gifts he took them to the pet store to buy their Hamster's. What a good Daddy for buying the kids gifts on Fathers Day! I gave Tyler the best gift of all I think. I told him he had to help the kids take care of the Hamsters and clean the cage and make sure they are fed and watered and the Hamsters are only allowed out of their cage when he is home because I don't want to touch them. Happy Fathers Day Ty....Love ya!

Happy Fathers Day to my Dad as well. I don't see my Dad much anymore. Since he has retired he has been at his condo an awful lot. I didn't get to see him on Father's day and I don't think he looks at this blog much anymore but I had to let it be known that I have the BEST Dad. Thanks for everything Dad. I love you!

One month ago

Britton decided he was done with recreation soccer so on the 13th of May he tried out for a competitive soccer league. We finally heard back from the coach yesterday. Britton will be playing for the Houston Dynamo's (silly name for a bunch of 8 and 9 year olds from Utah). We have a meeting on Wednesday for all parents to attend and then another meeting with the parents, player and coach on Thursday. They sure are serious about this. And it costs a pretty penny but Britton is so excited he can hardly stand it. His first game will be on July 1st. Hopefully he will finally be on a decent team and will actually enjoy it more then he did with the team he was on last season.

Way to go Britton we are very proud of you!! I can't wait for soccer to begin again, I have been going through withdrawals.

Lost tooth #4!

Soccer Camp

Britton started a soccer camp today. He had a blast! When he finishes he gets a shirt, a ticket to a Real Salt Lake Soccer Game and he becomes a member of the Jr loyalist fan club for Real.


Britton wants to play for Real so bad. After this he will be well on his way to becoming an official team member for Real. Only a few more years Britton, just hang in there.

Kindergarten Graduation

Shayna had her Kindergarten Graduation program on Friday June 4th. The songs they sang were so cute. I really can't believe she is going to be in 1st grade. No more little ones for me.....sigh.

I am actually really sad that this year is over. I loved helping out in her class and working with Mrs. Jessee was awesome, she is a great teacher.

Brittons class didn't have a end of year program. They watched movies and ate treats all day long. His Teacher was Mrs. Morby. I absolutely loved her! I hope next year is just as great!

Some of Ty's family was in town this weekend for a Family Reunion. We decided to meet Josh and his family and Jonny and his kids at the Classic Fun center Friday night. The kids had a blast playing with their cousins. I wish we could see them all more often!









The kids had so much fun. I'm wondering why they didn't have stuff like this when I was younger.

It's GREAT being EIGHT!

As per tradition we took the kids to Thomas the Train. We have done this every year for Britton's Birthday. This however was the last year we are doing it. It's sad to think that Britton's Birthday tradition is over, however he is growing up and there are other things we can do.

Tyler had to meet us there because he had to work. He was running late so as everyone was boarding the train I stood out side with Tyler's ticket hoping he would make it in time. I asked the guy taking tickets how long we could wait and he told me two minutes. When the train was completely loaded the conductor came out and asked us what was wrong and if I was ready to board the train. I told him my husband was on his way and he should be here any second. He told me he would wait for a little bit and just then Tyler came running up. Whew, that was stressful. Not to mention embarrassing, everyone on the train was staring at me wondering why I wouldn't get on. I just really didn't want Ty to miss this with it being our last time. I really appreciated the Conductor and Ticket taker being so nice about it.

A picture of me to prove I was there. I wonder what happened to all of the pictures of Tyler....I swear I took some. It was so dang windy that day. I HATE wind! I think the guy behind me was wondering why Tyler wanted a picture of him.





You gotta love cotton candy. I love this picture of Britton. That kid is the messiest eater I have ever seen.

On Saturday we had a Star wars Birthday party for Britton. It turned out really well. I was worried with it being a Holiday weekend but most of the kids were able to come. We sent out really cool invitations and I think that got the kids excited to come. Every one that called to RSVP told me how fun the party sounded and what cute invitations we did. I found the idea online and added our own little twist to it. This invitation was made for Beckham but we put each child's name that we invited in place of Beckham's name.

Tyler and I made each of the kids their own individual TIE fighter Ship cakes. They were a huge hit. I also found this idea on line and I was shocked when all of the kids knew what they were.

Of course we had to have ice cream with our cake, so we had Rocky Galaxy (Rocky Road) ice cream.

And no Star wars party would be complete without the Yoda Soda. Tyler even died it green to give it a little extra effect. The kids thought it was hilarious.

The set up before the kids arrived. I found some glow in the dark straws that I thought would be perfect for the party. They were a big hit too, but we just couldn't get the house dark enough. They were fun anyway.

We had some fun games planned although we didn't call them games. They were Jedi training courses. The first two "games" I didn't get pictures of. I am so mad about that but I was just having so much fun watching and helping the kids that I didn't even think about it. The first game we played was Storm Trooper vs. Jedi. Each kid had there own "light saber" and we blind folded them. The closest one to his chest won a prize.

The second "game" we played was Save Princess Leia. I put a picture of Princess Leia in a balloon and the person to pop the correct balloon won a prize. We had about 50 balloons and the kids had to sit on them to pop them.

After that it was time for a break, so we ate cake and ice cream and opened gifts.

After that it was back to Jedi training.

We wanted to do Musical chairs to the Star wars theme music but the kids were so darn hyper we didn't dare get out the chairs so Tyler suggested pillows....Brilliant!

and the last "game" of the day was Who am I. I wrote a Star wars characters name on a sticker and stuck it to their back, when they guessed who they were they got their treat bag and it was time to go home.

We finished the party a couple of minutes early so we went outside to play while waiting for every one's Mom's to come.

It was an awesome party and some of the boy's told their Mom's they didn't want to leave. Riley even told me it was a Magical party and Garrett told me he had soooo much fun! I am so glad it was successful. I can't believe my baby boy is eight, it makes me teary eyed to think about it.

For Britton's Birthday we gave him the Real Salt Lake soccer away game jersey, he has the home jersey and wanted the away game one. At first we couldn't find the away jersey that was in his size so we got him this years home game jersey. Tyler decided to stop at the actual Real Salt Lake store and found what we wanted so he bought it. Shay has been wanting a jersey so we gave the other jersey to her as a kindergarten graduation gift. That night Real played and we all wore our jerseys.....they won of course!


The next day, which was Sunday was Britton's actual Birthday. We took him bowling. I forgot my camera so no pictures but we had a lot of fun and Britton got a lot of celebrating done.
