Tyler had to go to Scottsdale Arizona this weekend for a safety course. So I loaded up the kids and went to the zoo to see all of the new baby animals. We saw a baby giraffe, elephant and gorilla. There is also baby lion cubs but we never saw them. The baby elephant and the black bears were my favorite this year. Britton's favorite was the snakes and Shayna loved the elephants. I couldn't get a picture of the baby gorilla, for some reason my camera wouldn't take a good picture through the glass. He was so cute though, he kept putting a bag over his head then he would take it off and look at everybody and then hurry and hide under the bag again...very cute!
The kids thought this was so funny. The Mama elephant would always do this pose when she would reach up for food. Very graceful for such a big creature.
The rhinos, kind of scary to think we are only separated by glass.
The baby giraffe. It was difficult to get a good picture of it but he was very cute.
Shayna was very scared of this guy. He came right up to the glass and just stared at us. Britton and I were laughing so hard at the way he was acting with us but Shay didn't think it was so cute. I wish I had a recording of her reaction.
Brittons favorite place was with the snakes. Shayna and I both hated it. And it STINKS in there.
I loved these bears, I could have sat there and watched them play all day long, but, the kids had other plans. Like.....
Sticking there heads in the tigers mouth and.....
posing with the lions and.....
posing with the gorilla and.....
riding the carousel and.....
riding the train and......
playing on the playground.
and of course you can't go to the zoo without seeing how you match up with the gorillas.
It was pretty cold but after drinking hot chocolate we had a great time. The animals were more active then I had ever seen them and the kids were so cute with their maps of the zoo. They had to be leaders and tell me where to go so I wouldn't get lost. It's a good thing they had those maps too, so they could find all the stores that sold hot dogs and cotton candy.
That night we decided to have movie night. We made a big bed in the living room and we made tapioca pudding and watched movies all night long. Shayna woke up at 5:30 that morning and whispered "Mom, I really would like to have some tapioca pudding right now". I told her if she slept for at least two more hours I would let her have it for breakfast. So we were up at 7:30 eating tapioca again.
Sunday we went over to my Mom and Dad's house so the kids could paint and winterize their train and sandbox, then we ate dinner (thank you Mom and Dad for feeding us) and then we went to the airport to pick up a very missed Dad. We are very glad to have Tyler back home!
