Labor Day weekend. Camping trip.

We camped in a spot where we visited three years ago while staying at my parents condo. I love this place. There are so many neat places to hike and see Indian writing. And even though it got windy during the day's (I HATE wind) we still had a great time.

Camp site all set up. We opted not to put the walls on the canopy. It provided plenty of shade and it was nice to have the breeze blow through.

My parents and Shane came down from the condo to visit us. We ate lunch together, then we did a couple scavenger hunts. My Mom gave Britton a really cool Boy Scout 7 in 1 tool so we used his compass to search for hidden objects and then went to look at the Indian writing that we saw a few years back.
I couldn't resist a picture of Shane on our blow up camping couch. He is wearing two different shoes because of his sprained ankle, not because he thought it was fashionable. Like the blanket the couch is sitting on. Now that is a good looking blanket. And to think my parents used to have that on their bed. YIKES! It is now used to keep the poles to the canopy together.

5 yrs old. In the 2nd picture Britton is 8 yrs old. (the sun was in his eyes and the rock was hot. I couldn't get a better picture of him)

3 yrs old. In the second picture Shay is 6 yrs old.

Of course we had to hike around a bit and climb on all the rocks we could find.

Tyler, always the entertainer!

Lot's of fancy Indian writing. I'm told this was a spiritual spot for them.

The next day we decided to hike around our camp site for a bit. At night we could hear the Coyotes. They didn't sound like they were to far from our camp and we had seen some Coyote tracks around so the kids wanted to hike around to see what other kind of prints we could find.

We didn't find anything other then deer tracks, but we had a great time exploring.
That afternoon we headed up to my parents condo to spend some time playing and eating dinner and taking very needed showers (thanks Mom and Dad).
On the way up the canyon the kids zonked out big time. Shayna was even snoring.

While at the condo the kids (mostly Tyler) worked hard at building a fort.

Funny picture of Shayna on the way back to our campsite driving down a dirt road.

When we got to our campsite the very first day we knew that there was a fire on the mountains across from us. It was far away and we never could smell the smoke but we could see it really well. It wasn't until our last night of camp that we could actually see the flames.

It was so crazy to watch (mostly sad) Tyler and the kids were off doing something so I just sat there and watched it for a couple of minutes. The line of fire you can see in the picture above wasn't there when I first started watching it. I could see things ignite as it went up the Mountain, it was insane how fast it moved.

Our last night by the fire.

I could have spent a few more nights out there. I wasn't quite ready to be home and back to reality. I wasn't complaining when I crawled into my own bed though!
