Carving Pumpkins

Saturday night we were supposed to carve pumpkins with Mom and Dad and Shane. We had so much going on that we totally forgot so we told the kids they could carve their pumpkins. They started to carve the pumpkin that was supposed to be Shane's. Tyler and I let them do it all by themselves. They scooped out the guts, came up with their own designs and used the knives all by themselves while Tyler and I sat on the couch. After they started they were really not into it. They were both really sad the Grandma, Grandpa and Uncle Shane were not there. This was the first year that we have not all been together. I didn't think it would affect the kids but it really did. They were so sad and it took them ALL day to finish this pumpkin. They kept walking away from it and would come back every once in a while to do some more work.

Britton's side of the pumpkin says HI. Pretty clever! Shayna's side is a scary face. She did really well for using the knife all by herself for the first time.
I hope they get over not having the rest of the family here because they have two more pumpkins to carve.
Guess we will see!!!
