I am soooo proud!

Both of the kids came home with invitations. They were stapled shut and said to the parents of Britton/Shayna. Britton knew what was going on but Shayna had no idea. Her teacher wanted to keep it a surprise.
The invitation was for an assembly for the kids who received an award! The teachers were allowed to choose 5 kids out of the class for the award. Both of my kids were selected by their teachers. How awesome is that?!?
They both got the trustworthy award. Their teachers said that they can really count on them and they know when their backs are turned they are doing what they should be doing. Both of the teachers got up and said what they thought were special about the kids getting the award. It almost brought me to tears!
The kids also go to classes called specials. Its the classes like, gym, art, library and so on. The teachers of those classes also got to pick a student that they thought was extra special and did an outstanding job on their work. Shayna was picked by the art teacher!! She got two awards! She was totally shocked.

I am so proud of my kids. No matter where we go they end up being excellent students. How lucky am I!!

Carving Pumpkins

Saturday night we were supposed to carve pumpkins with Mom and Dad and Shane. We had so much going on that we totally forgot so we told the kids they could carve their pumpkins. They started to carve the pumpkin that was supposed to be Shane's. Tyler and I let them do it all by themselves. They scooped out the guts, came up with their own designs and used the knives all by themselves while Tyler and I sat on the couch. After they started they were really not into it. They were both really sad the Grandma, Grandpa and Uncle Shane were not there. This was the first year that we have not all been together. I didn't think it would affect the kids but it really did. They were so sad and it took them ALL day to finish this pumpkin. They kept walking away from it and would come back every once in a while to do some more work.

Britton's side of the pumpkin says HI. Pretty clever! Shayna's side is a scary face. She did really well for using the knife all by herself for the first time.
I hope they get over not having the rest of the family here because they have two more pumpkins to carve.
Guess we will see!!!

Fun visit from the Parents!

My Parents and Shane came in town last Wednesday. They got here just in time to pick the kids up from school. The kids had no idea they were coming so it was a HUGE surprise to them. They were so excited. It was very cute! Wednesday evening we had dinner then we all went to Britton's soccer practice.
Thursday we dropped the kids off at school and Tyler and I took my parents to show them around the area that we want to buy a house in. Afterwards Shane wanted to go to a casino so of course we took him. I didn't have my camera with me so no pictures but we had fun. I lost 20 dollars, but then I won ten back so really I only lost ten. However, I prefer to say I WON 10!! Shane won 30 but quickly lost it again. He cashed out with 25 cents. Hey at least he took something home with him. We got back home in time to eat lunch and then pick up the kids from school. We took everybody to YogurtLand. This place has become my family's favorite!
Friday the kids didn't have school. Tyler and I took Britton to the dentist to have some cavities taken care of then we came back home to get everyone and we headed off to gold and silver pawn. You know the one. It's on TV and they call it Pawn Stars!!

We got to the very front of the line, ready to walk in the door and they told us that everybody needed to leave the building. They were closing for filming for an hour. None of wanted to wait that long so we headed back home. We decided to just lounge around at home.
Saturday Britton had a soccer game. We all got up bright and early and headed to the field. Britton's team won 3-0. They all played well and we had a blast watching them!! When we got home Dad and Shane were pretty tired so it was nice of Tyler to stay home with them while Mom and I took the kids to Mandalay Bay to see the Shark Reef. Thanks Ty, we had a BLAST but next time your going with!!

This is a nurse shark. Shayna is studying them at school. She thought it was pretty awesome to get to see them in person.

I loved the Lion Fish......
And the Jelly Fish.....
Sharks are so scary looking. I would seriously hate to find one in the water with me. YIKES!
Britton's favorite part was the Stingrays. He LOVES them. We were standing here for probably an hour just letting him pet them.
And of course as you exit you exit through the gift shop. I wish I got pictures but they both ended up with suckers, stingray stuff animals and a shark tooth.
We decided we were not quite ready to go back home and the kids really wanted to ride the monorail so we took them to the Luxor and Excalibur.

Thank you Mom. We all had so much fun!! I am so glad you went with us. It was just what we needed!
Saturday night Diane and Charleen came over and visited for a couple of hours and Sunday my Parents and Shane had to head home.
We had a great time and can't wait until they can come back.

A Star!

Britton came home from school with this packet of starbursts last week. Apparently he is a very good student in the library.

Good job Britton! You are a STAR in EVERY way!!

A day at the lake!

Yesterday we were invited to go to lake mead with some of our friends from Britton's soccer team. It was great for us to get to know some of the parents better and Britton got to hang out with a couple of his friends and get to know them better as well. We had a BLAST! We rode on jet ski's and swam and ate good food for hours and hours. I can't believe how warm the water was. Shayna had so much fun on the jet ski's. The faster the better. Britton loved it too. I thought he would be so much more timid but he liked going really fast. He even tried knee boarding and did AWESOME! They finally had to cut the engine because he stayed up so long!! Yesterday was a much needed stress free relaxing day!!

I am so proud!

Shaynas teacher sent me an email telling me that Shay is a wonderful student. She is doing so good in school and she is even getting compliments from other teachers for her good behavior! Shay loves her new school so much. She has adapted very well and is actually excited to go to school everyday for the first time ever. It makes me so happy to know that Shay likes it here and is doing so good in school. It takes a lot of stress off of her parents. Yay for no anxiety!!

We had a great weekend.

Britton was invited to his new Friends birthday part on Saturday. When I called to RSVP they invited Tyler and I to come for the party as well. I thought it was really nice that they wanted to meet us and wanted us to join the Family for the party. Britton was the only Friend that was invited and the rest of the kids were cousins so we were the only ones there that were not related. They are such nice people and we really enjoyed ourselves. They are a great Family and I'm really glad that Britton has such a good friend.
As soon as the party was over we headed over to my Cousins house for her boys Birthday party. I LOVE having family close by and even though Cole is 3 years older then Britton they get along great. I'm so excited that he has a Cousin he can hang out with and I know that when he is at their house I never have to worry about him. LOVE IT.
Britton was invited to sleep over and then they took the boys to the Adventuredome at Circus Circus to play and ride on all the rides all day long. Britton had a blast and could NOT stop talking about it. He is already begging us to take him back. Last night at 8:30 I was reading with the kids and Britton could not concentrate on his book. He kept thinking about all of the rides and had to tell me all about them again and again. I'm so glad he had that much fun. Thank you Rhonda and Aunt Vick for taking him. He had a blast and I am so happy that he is spending so much time with Family. You guys are the BEST!

While Britton was off having fun and Tyler was at work I thought it would be fun for Shayna and I to spend some fun time together. We went to Yogurtland for some frozen yogurt. It was so good. I can't wait to go back. Then we came home and made up dances and went swimming and played school and oh my goodness I was EXHAUSTED! I had so much fun with Shay. She has such an amazing personality. Thank you for hanging out with me Shay. I love you so much!!
