This was a really busy weekend for the Carver Family. We had a lot going on so there wasn't much time for rest.
Friday:
I was really busy on Friday. I helped out in Shayna's class, just like I do every Friday. Then I ran to Michael's Crafts to pick up some supplies I needed for decorating cookies. I then ran to my hair appointment and had just enough time to get home and grab something to eat before running back to the school to pick up the kids. As soon as I got them we ran to the store to buy Valentines for both of their classes, we made it home just in time to get the kids a snack and get Britton dressed in his soccer gear and then head to his soccer clinic. I am going to take a little detour here and talk about the clinic.
Britton doesn't really like clinics but they are good for him. He thinks it is boring to have a coach tell him what drills to do and then they have to do it. But when the coach stopped Britton and asked for his name and wrote it down then gave him a thumbs up he was really excited. And that is exciting because now he has been recognized. These coaches are kind of like scouts. They are searching for the good players to be on their teams, you have to be invited. Britton says he is never going to miss a clinic and he is going to do his best at them....we shall see!
After the soccer clinic we went grocery shopping. I NEVER take the kids. Shane and I always do it while they are in school but I just didn't have the time. I will NEVER take them again. It's not that they are bad, they just want everything and then they get bored and run around. It's just hard. Especially after a long day. As soon as we got the grocery's put away I started cleaning the house for our company that was to arrive. Tyler got home soon after and made dinner for us. Kip and Misty (friends from Moab) were supposed to get to our house around 7:00 but didn't make it until 9:00 and of course we had to stay up playing cards and visiting. We didn't get to bed until one in the morning. PHEW! That was a long day.
Saturday:
Tyler got up and made a nice breakfast for everyone. Soon after Kip and Misty left and we had a relaxing morning. We started getting ready around 11 for our busy afternoon. The first thing on our agenda was Britton's soccer game. We played against ten year olds and they killed us. We went back home for a little rest before we had to head back for Britton's second soccer game. I stirred up some cookie dough and made arrangements for my parents to keep the kids for the night so Tyler and I could celebrate Valentines/Anniversary. Britton's team won the second game. It was such a good game. Very intense, I love those games where your sitting on the edge of your seat the whole time. Awesome. My Parents took the kids straight from the Soccer game to their house so Ty and I went and did some Valentine shopping for the kids and picked up some snacks and desert (cheese cake with fresh raspberries) . Then we went to Starbucks because we were both tired from the late night/early morning. For dinner we decided on Sushi again. I don't think I like it and I'm afraid I won't be so gung-ho about it next time....sorry Ty. I tried. I really did. When we got home we watched You again. It was ok, kind of funny, some dumb parts. Typical comedy I guess. All in all I had a lot of fun. Thank you Tyler for being my Valentine and giving me the best ten years of my life.
Sunday:
We didn't pick up the kids until 11:00. They kept calling us saying they were not ready to come home. How sad. I missed them like crazy and all they wanted was to be with Grandma and Grandpa. It's not like they don't see them everyday. O'well. It gave me a nice relaxing morning. As soon as they got home it was work, work, work. We made Valentine Box's. By we I mean they. They did their very own box's and didn't want any help. They did a great job!
Britton didn't want anything "girly" no hearts, no pink, no XOXO's. Nothing. I don't blame him one bit. He did a great job.
We worked on Valentines for all of their classmates. Sorry, no pictures. I was a little busy. And then we made Valentine cookies. And by we I mean ME! Britton went down stairs to play the wii. Tyler sat in his Man chair and watched TV and Shay went outside to ride her bike. She did come in long enough to decorate a few cookies so I did appreciate that.
I think our cookies turned out really cute. They were very time consuming but I think once I get the hang of it it won't take so long.
Aren't they perty?
Then it was laundry, laundry, laundry and since the weather was so nice, we decided to Bar-b-q. Perfect ending to a busy day.
Monday:
Happy Valentines Day! Or if you are Tyler then Happy Anniversary!! Of course Tyler had to work. I took the day off hoping we could do something but it just didn't work out that way. I owe a huge thank you to my parents for taking the kids on Saturday so Tyler and I could celebrate our Anniversary. I kept myself busy on Valentines Day and it actually turned out to be a really great day. I'm so glad I took the day off.
I got the kids off to school, Shayna wanted hearts in her hair for the big class Valentines party.
and then I came home and made Tyler a Pecan pie.
Both of us love pecan pie but don't eat it much. I found a recipe that I thought I could handle so I gave it a try. I even made the crust. Too bad I cooked it to long. The crust was a little hard but it actually tasted pretty good. Then I cleaned my house and did some more laundry. Then Mom and Shane and I went to lunch. Thanks Mom for the Valentine lunch. I had a lot of fun! After lunch Mom and I went to a cute little home decor shop and ended up buying Britton and Shayna a world globe. Just one more thing to add to all of the Valentine gifts. Then we headed over to the school to pick up the kids and take them to swimming lessons. I really enjoyed watching them. I don't ever get to because it is during my work hours. They are doing really well. Then we headed home and made dinner and set the table so everything would be ready when Tyler walked through the door.
When he got home he said "Happy Valentines everyone and pulled out a Marie Calendars Pie. My very favorite. So I turned around and grabbed the pecan pie off of the stove and said "and Happy Anniversary to you". It was pretty funny that we both had the same idea.
We made the kids go down stairs so we could get out their little gifts.
Then we all ate dinner. Sloppy Joes and Tator Tots. Hey, at least it wasn't pizza.
Britton and Shayna drank sprite out of their Minnie and Mickey wine glasses
and it was a fabulous night!
It was a crazy busy weekend but I loved every minute of it. It was great!. Thank you to everyone involved.
