Camping at Mason Draw

My Family was having a little gathering at Warner Lake for a picnic so we decided we would take the opportunity to take the kids camping.

We left Friday morning, here are the kids on the way down. They were being so good and played very well together the whole ride.

There was a semi in front of us that dropped a huge rock. It hit the road and bounced up and hit our windshield. Not the best way to start a weekend but we didn't let it ruin our fun.

Tyler is making a fist so we could compare the size. It is actually bigger then his fist.

We were not sure where we would end up because we didn't want to be surrounded by a lot of people. After searching for what seemed like forever we found a place to camp called Mason Draw. It was the best camp site I have ever been to and no one was around. We loved it, it was the perfect spot.

The kids blew bubbles while we set up camp.

Britton's favorite part of camping is having a fire. He loves to roast marshmallows and make his own hot dogs and throw on little pieces of wood to keep the fire going.

You really shouldn't ask your five year old to hold your beer for you. It just doesn't look right. She didn't think anything of it though.

We had lot's of visitors while we were there. Cute little squirrels. This guy actually wasn't that little.

Britton and Shay had a blast with the caterpillars. They were everywhere. This one they named Olive. Britton said they came up with the name because they all-love the caterpillar and all-love sounds like Olive. Pretty clever.

Some more visitors include, my Grandma Donna, my Mom and Dad and Shane. They stopped by to visit before we headed to Warner Lake for the picnic.

Britton and Shay are playing with Grandpa Doug's metal detector looking for treasures. To bad nothing worth money was found. They were entertained anyway.

Here we are at Warner Lake. Britton, Brooke, Shayna and Bruin.

Fishing with Dad. Never did catch anything.

Shortly after this we headed back to our campsite. My parents and Grandma and Shane met us back there so we could hang out and have dinner. We started dinner which was hamburgers and hot dogs and dutch oven peach cobbler. Once we got everything cooking it started raining HARD. We all took cover in the cars for about 15 minutes. When we got out of the cars our hamburgers were sitting in the skillet filled with rainwater, the dutch oven quit cooking and our sleeping bags, blankets and pillows in the tent were wet. We decided to just pack things up and go stay at Grandmas house. That proved to be a good idea. As we were driving off it started to rain again.

Even though things were not perfect we had a great time and we are very excited to go camping again!
